2nd EuroCC and Castiel Joint Conference

On 22nd of June the second Joint Conference between Castiel (https://www.castiel-project.eu/) and EuroCC (https://www.eurocc-project.eu/) projects under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 (H2020) started and lasted until June 24th. Four representatives from HPC NCC Montenegro participated in the conference and presented highlights and current status of NCC Montenegro. During the conference the details about the collaboration and the current status of the two projects as well as highlights of all 33 national EuroCC competence centers were presented. The presentation of HPC NCC Montenegro current status and implemented activities were held by Sandra Tinaj PhD, Project Management member of the HPC NCC Montenegro team.

At the conference, during first day it was yet again strongly emphasized the importance of collaboration between the EuroCC partner countries within the development of AI, HPDA and HPC technologies in the EU within CASTIEL WP2 Competence Mapping and Networking and CASTIEL Training, Twinning, Mentoring (WP3). To boost the competitiveness of European industry and public sector the knowledge-transfer between academia and industry/public sector should be one of the primary goals of EuroCC national competence centers. This should be done through training and experience exchange. During conference, the EuroHPC JU representative presented update on EuroHPC.

During the second day CASTIEL Industrial Interaction and Business Development (WP4) as well CASTIEL Awareness Creation, the EuroCC Access and Outreach (WP5) main activities were presented. Also, during second day FF4EuroHPC Open Call 2 were presented and discussed.

2nd EuroCC and Castiel Join Conference

The last but definitely not the least, EuroCC Project Management Team announced and discussed with other NCCs first year review of EuroCC and CASTIEL by the Project Officer which will be held on 12th to 14th of October. Conference will start with an open session, which shall present highlights and achievements of both projects. On the first and beginning of the second day, CASTIEL WPs will present their activities and then will continue with two parallel tracks where each NCC will present itself.

Open Mind Academy Training Event

NCC Montenegro has successfully completed the realization of training Analyzing Social Media Trends and Python Video Game Programming within the Open Mind Academy for high school students at University of Donja Gorica UDG. The training were organized within work activities 34.2 Training and Skills development and were held in the period of 20th of April till 17th of May. The first set of training was held online and the second set of training was held in the University’s building, organized as a two-day event. There were around 30 participants from various high schools throughout Montenegro.
Within the Open Mind Academy at the University of Donja Gorica training called ANALYZING SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS in the field of Data Science and PYTHON VIDEO GAME PROGRAMMING were held. The training aimed at animating young people to get familiarized with modern technologies and acquire basic knowledge for enrollment in AI.
The candidates had the opportunity to listen to and work with colleagues from the NCC Montenegro research team: Armin Alibašić PhD, Stevan Šandi MA, Stevan Čakić MA and Bojana Mališić MA.
The training within the Open Mind Academy were intended for high school students who wished to gain practical experience in one of the very current areas using modern technologies such as 3D printing, design, programming, drones, AI and others, all in collaboration with lecturers from UDG. The knowledge acquired will enable participants to more easily build their future in one of the areas they choose with this program.

Dr Luka Filipovic joined the EuroCC team at UDG and HPC NCC Montenegro

Luka Filipovic received his doctorate at the Faculty of electrical engineering, University of Montenegro. Doctoral dissertation entitled “Combined adaptive algorithm for load distribution in application parallelization” was defended in December 2019. The dissertation presents a performance analysis of load balancing algorithms for the distribution of parallel application processes. His main areas of scientific interest are distributed and parallel computing. Previous scientific research has resulted in the publication of articles in international and domestic journals and presentations at scientific conferences.

He has experience in various national and European (FP6, FP7, H2020) research projects based on distributed computing, information systems and software development. Other core competencies and interests are data science, information systems and software development.

EuroCC project presentation at UDG

The Euro CC project was presented to the research and scientific community within the UDG. During the presentations, senior and junior researchers were invited to join the future HPC Competence Center. The presentation was held by prof. dr Milica Vukotic, member of the Euro CC team and dean of the Faculty for Information Systems and Technologies.
