AIMHiGH project presenation at NCC Cyprus Industry Day event

The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of The Cyprus Institute hosted a landmark “Industry Day” on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, organized within the framework of the EUROCC2 project.

During the Industry Day event , a representative from DigitalSmart Stevan Čakić from Montenegro presented the AIMHiGH project in a segment titled “Another success story from a past collaboration between industry and research.” The focus of the presentation was on how the project integrates high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) into poultry farming, creating innovative solutions for the agricultural sector. The collaboration, part of the H2020 initiative and the FF4EuroHPC application experiments, was highlighted as a prime example of successful partnership between industry and academia, driving forward technological advancement in agriculture. This concise presentation underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in bringing about cutting-edge innovations in traditional sectors.

Online event: Artificial Intelligence and High-performance Computing for real case scenarios

SAVE THE DATE: January 29th, 11:00 AM, register for free: https://bit.ly/3tGjim3

We are organizing an online training event on Artificial Intelligence and High-performance Computing for real case scenarios. This workshop is designed for academia; scholars, researchers, students, who are interested in learning how to use AI/ML and High-performance Computing in real case scenarios. This will be achieved through five lectures featuring educators from Spain and Montenegro who will present successful case studies. This is a twinning effort by two NCCs.

Agenda for the online training by NCC Montenegro and NCC Spain

Supercomputing Info Day

Collaborative ” Supercomputing INFO DAY” involving NCC Spain, NCC Netherlands, NCC Slovenia, NCC Montenegro and NCC Cyprus will bring together companies from different countries and different industries to share their experience on using HPC infrastructure to improve their products and services, optimize business workflows and elevate industry competitiveness. By showcasing inspirational use cases and success stories, the event aims to promote company benefits arising from supercomputing opportunities and NCC services for industry.

We are inviting you to join us on 24th of January for the online industry event and discover supercomputing possibilities and potential for your company. Registration for the event: https://eurocc-spain.res.es/supercomputing-info-day/

HPC4SME self-evaluation tool – Are you ready to use HPC?

NCC Slovenia/Arctur d.o.o led and CASTIEL supported Task Force HPC4SME that successfully mobilised 17 NCCs within EuroCC2 footprint, in joint effort to upgrade HPC4SME Automated Assessment Tool for evaluation of Cloud HPC readiness of the European companies.

Task Force activities were focused on content update (questions, answers, info fields, report, translation), fine tuning of MADM (Multi- Attribute Decision -Making Model), beta testing with SMEs and service upgrade to the new AAT system.

The enhanced HPC4SME Tool was formally introduced during CASTIEL webinar for the Industry Working Group by Arctur team, focusing on SME’s evaluation benefits and supporting activities on NCCs market intelligence, competence mapping and industry steering process.

HPC4SME Automated Assessment Tool is already available at NCC Montenegro website https://eurocc.udg.edu.me/hpc4sme-assessment-tool/, providing an opportunity for Montenegrin companies to discover IF and HOW they can benefit from supercomputing services.

Successful twinning: Quantum computing lecture Successful Twinning:

On the 20th of October 2023, Dr. Jaka Vodeb gave a lecture on the topic of quantum computing to the students of the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) and NCC Montenegro academic and industry partners.

Twinning between NCC germany and NCC Montenegro – Lecture on Quantum Computing

During the lecture, Dr. Vodeb addressed several key aspects of quantum computing, including its historical development, early stages, and the motivating factors behind its advancement. Additionally, he provided insights into the current state of quantum hardware and various quantum algorithms. At the end, he presented success stories where quantum computing demonstrated superior performance compared to conventional computing methods. Quantum computing lecture was organized as a fruitful collaboration between NCC Germany and NCC Montenegro. There was around 70 attendees at the lecture.

Over 70 attendees were presenet at the lecture
Students got an assignment to further research and write an essay on quantum computing

Quantum computing lecture

NCC Montenegro is organizing online introductory lecture about quantum computing and its applications.

Quantum computing is a cutting-edge field of computer science that leverages the principles of quantum mechanics to perform complex calculations at speeds far beyond what classical computers can achieve. Instead of using classical bits, quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits, which can exist in multiple states simultaneously due to superposition. This enables them to solve certain problems, such as factoring large numbers or simulating quantum systems, much faster than traditional computers. Quantum computing has the potential to revolutionize fields like AI/ML applications, cryptography, bioinformatics, digital manufacturing, optimization of traffic systems…

We are privileged to have Dr. Jaka Vodeb as our speaker. Dr. Vodeb is a postdoctoral researcher at the Jozef Stefan Institute and Fz Juelich (NCC Germany). His extensive expertise in quantum computing and quantum simulator ensures inspirational lectures.

Dr. Vodeb will give an overview of the quantum computing landscape, existing quantum hardware, quantum algorithms, quantum error correction and the quantum internet.

Date: 20.10.2023.
Time: 12:00 PM
Duration: Half Day lectures
