EuroCC@Montenegro Conference, day 2 is underway! #EuroCCME22 conference is organized by EuroCC and CASTIEL project. Very interesting discussion on the importance of NCCs for bridging the gap between academia and industry and connection domain experts speaking “application domain language” with HPC experts speaking “HPC language”. You can follow the conference remotely via the livestream: https://eurocc.udg.edu.me/euroccmontenegrolive/
During the first day of the public part of the EuroCC@Montenegro conference, we gave a short introduction about EuroCC and Castiel projects for broadcasting at the local TV station. Prof. Milica Vukotic, Vice-rector at the UDG, and prof. Tomo Popovic explained the project details and discussed the importance of HPC and AI in Montenegro and in general.

EuroCC@Montenegro Conference started today. This conference is organized by the EuroCC and Castiel projects. This is currently one of the largest research projects in Europe, with a budget of around 60 million euros, and brings together, under the leadership of the University of Stuttgart, partners from 33 European countries. Through UDG, Montenegro is, along with North Macedonia, the only country from the region that participates in this prestigious project.
The project deals with high performance computing (super computing) and after two years of project duration, due to the pandemic, this is the first conference that is held live. We are happy that UDG, with its project results, deserved to host a conference in Montenegro that brought together over 200 researchers from prestigious European universities and institutes, from 33 countries.

The project deals with high performance computing. Due to the pandemic, this is the first in-person conference two years after the start of the project. We are happy that UDG’s contribution to the project was recognized, and that our recommended results lead to us hosting a conference in Montenegro. The conference brings together over 200 researchers from prestigious European universities and institutes, from 33 countries.
Last week, the Summer school on HPC Computer Architectures for AI and Dedicated Applications was held in Barcelona at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Over the course of 5 days, excellent lecturers gave the participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the architecture of supercomputers, to deal in detail with RISC-V, to run scripts for training AI models on the MareNostrum supercomputer, but also with the application of these high-performance systems in application development artificial intelligence. One of the participants of this school was our PhD student from the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies, mr Stevan Cakic. Mr. Cakic provided us with few photos from the event.
