Training Best Practice Seminar (CASTIEL)

On Thursday, 20 January, from 2pm – 5:30pm CET, representatives from NCC Montenegro took part in the Training Best Practice Seminar organized by CASTIEL project. The topics for the seminar were: How to organize an event such as an HPC hackathon or a winter-school and how to attract (new) attendees. Dr. Tomo Popovic and Dr. Luka Filipovic gave a presentation on How to organise an international conference, and discussed the experiences on organizing a HPC/HPDA/AI workshop within IEEE Information Technology IT2021 conference that was held last year.

Registration open: 2nd HPC, HPDA, and AI Workshop

Registration is open for the upcoming EuroCC Training Event – 2nd High Performance Computing, High Performance Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence Workshop. This event is organized in alignment with the 26th International Information Technology IEEE Conference IT 2022, traditionally taking place in Žabljak, Montenegro. However, the IT2022 is organized as a virtual online event this year. Depending on the epidemic situation in Podgorica, the EuroCC training may be offered in a hybrid (virtual and live at the UDG). You can access the finalized version of the agenda here.

FF4EuroHPC: Experiment Update (AIMHiGH)

FF4EuroHPC experiment update: How to use AI and ML in agriculture sector? The idea of this experiment is to monitor the number of chickens, their weight and other parameters with the help of AI and a camera in which AI models will be integrated, and placed on poultry farms. Find more information here (based on FF4EuroHPC post on LinkedIn).

Update on FF4EuroHPC experiment – AIMHiGH

EuroCC Monteengro and UDG are participating in the FF4EuroHPC experiment – AIMHiGH. Currently working on the ML models to be used for the development of IoT edge sensors to count the number of chickens in an image and/or video and estimate growth. The goal of the AIMHiGH experiment is to validate the use of HPC in AI/ML training and evaluate acceleration in the development of these prediction models. Successful HPC Training – Collaboration with Partner NCCs

NCC Montenegro and NCC Romaina organized training event as one of EuroCC activities. Dr. Kyriacos HADJIYIANNAKOU from NCC Cyprus gave presentation about HPC and Parallel Programming. Dr. Maxim Masterov, SURF, The Netherlands NCC gave presentation about practical use of HPC in SURF and shown users how to execute first parallel sciripts on their HPC cluster. Montenegrin participants were interested students and professors from academy institutions and IT companies.

AI in Undergraduate Project Assignments

Undergraduate students presented their project for the final exam, course Managing information technology. Student Luka Jeremic presented his AI based Covid19 tool for detection if someone is not wearing face mask. In the project, he used ML based prediction tools to detect faces in the image and then to identify if the face is covered with mask or not.
