EuroCC Monteengro and UDG are participating in the FF4EuroHPC experiment – AIMHiGH. Currently working on the ML models to be used for the development of IoT edge sensors to count the number of chickens in an image and/or video and estimate growth. The goal of the AIMHiGH experiment is to validate the use of HPC in AI/ML training and evaluate acceleration in the development of these prediction models. Successful HPC Training – Collaboration with Partner NCCs
NCC Montenegro and NCC Romaina organized training event as one of EuroCC activities. Dr. Kyriacos HADJIYIANNAKOU from NCC Cyprus gave presentation about HPC and Parallel Programming. Dr. Maxim Masterov, SURF, The Netherlands NCC gave presentation about practical use of HPC in SURF and shown users how to execute first parallel sciripts on their HPC cluster. Montenegrin participants were interested students and professors from academy institutions and IT companies.
AI in Undergraduate Project Assignments
Undergraduate students presented their project for the final exam, course Managing information technology. Student Luka Jeremic presented his AI based Covid19 tool for detection if someone is not wearing face mask. In the project, he used ML based prediction tools to detect faces in the image and then to identify if the face is covered with mask or not.
CASTIEL WP3 Train the Trainer Workshop
Members from our team participated in the Train the Trainer Workshop organized by CASTIEL project, within its WP3.
EuroCC project presented at national conference
EuroCC NCC Montenegro participated in a national conference on Industry 4.0 and Cyber Security issues in Montenengro, where reference solutions on the possibility of applying HPC in the process of digitalization and possibilities for collaboration with EuroCC were presented. The conference is organized by UDG and in cooperation with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro. Montenegrin NCC team gave presentation on the EuroCC project and the progress on activities so far. The team extended invitation for collaboration to all stakeholders and representatives from industry, academia and public sector.
Visit to Decision Theater at Arizona State University
A delegation of the University of Donja Gorica, consisting of the Rector Prof. Dr. Veselin Vukotic, Dean of the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies Prof. dr Milica Vukotic, head of master studies Prof. Dr. Tomo Popovic, General Manager Dr. Sandra Tinaj, has visited the Arizona State University. As part of the visit, realized from November 29th to December 4th, the Decision Theater (DT) at the Arizona State University was also visited. Decision Theater has multiple successful applications of HPC technology in solving various business, social and scientific problems.
Using data analytics and high-performance computing to drive software-integrated models, DT works with transdisciplinary partners to streamline big data and transform it into novel, interactive data visualizations. By combining a variety of technical capabilities, DT facilitates the collaborative engagement between different groups in the pursuit of comprehensive, useful, data-driven models that build shared understanding and perspectives. Managing the convergence of multiple disciplines, datasets, ways of knowing and approaches to governance is essential to the DT collaboration process. The presentation in front of the decision theater was delivered by Jon Miller, Director of ASU Decision Theater (information source: https://dt.asu.edu/).
